The Alumni Ex-Offenders Association (AEA) is a group of formerly incarcerated men and women that provides resources to ex-offenders. We assist individuals in reconnecting to families and communities that sorely need our talents. Our meetings build on our members’ skills through Reconstruction’s Community Capacity-Building Curriculum.
AEA holds facilitation workshops in our communities with the goal of building self-understanding and self-awareness. Workshops also create positive role models for personal, familial and political growth. We nurture interpersonal bonds and strive to heal our historical wounds. Grounded in African and African-American traditions, our past workshops have tackled “post-traumatic slave syndrome” and its effect on individuals of all racial backgrounds throughout U.S. history.
